Starting the day off is one of the hardest things to do. We all LOVE the snooze button and it can't be a good morning without some coffee right? But checking your morning routine could be the source of most of your problems.
So here at the 1 Minute Movement, we have come up with 3 things to do to set up a morning and day that, when you look back on it, you'll be astounded at what you have been able to do.
Tip 1; Buy Yourself An Alarm Clock
Now I know what most might think, as did I when I first started trying to develop myself,
"I alright have one! It's on my phone." Though this might be correct and most people do tend to use their phone as an alarm clock, having a separate clock will stop you from waking up and hopping straight onto Instagram or TikTok and wasting the first hour of your day watch cats do backflips or one of the Kardashians lose an earring etc.
Sweet. So you've got your clock and your setting it up. PUT IT ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE ROOM! When you put the wake up warrior as far away as you can from your bedside table, it means you have to get out of bed to turn it off. Seeing as you're up now, you may as well start your day.
Tip 2; Listen To Something Motivational While You Get Ready
When you wake up, you are in a state known as the Alpha state. This is the state of mind you are in just before you go to sleep and just as you wake up. This means that what you listen to within the first 20 minutes of your day can have a massive impact on how your day will turn out. It also means that the subconscious mind is most impressionable at this time, so any thoughts or ideas that you have in your conscious mind will be more likely to go into your subconscious mind. If you want a super productive day, I recommend tuning into a YouTube channel or podcast that inspries you and lifts your spirits to start the day in a great mood. Along side this it will help you to get over your frustration you might have with your new alarm clock!
If you're looking for some people to listen to, have a look at my personal favourite, which is Les Brown. Other great people to listen to in the morning I have found are Jim Rohn, Tony Robbins and Sadhguru.
Tip 3; Prepare The Night Before
Have you ever had a day where you got up and thought "Ah damn I've got so much to do today, I don't know where to start?". I know I have. If you weren't taught this as a kid, then it's definitely something you should learn to do now! Having your day planned out the night before is essential for productivity because, not only will you have everything ready and waiting for you to do in the morning, but this will help relieve your stress levels.
Get an idea of the things you want or have to do the night before and write a list of them, so that you know what to do first, second and third and so on. Once you have your list, sort your clothes out for the next day. What are you going to wear? What are you going to eat? Prepare these things before you go to bed for a week and see how much of a difference it will make.
So to wrap up our KILLER morning routine, invest in an alarm clock so you can wake up on time (DON'T HIT SNOOZE!), Listen to something motivating (listen with conviction) and always prep the night before.
