4 tips on how to start your self help journey!

For the first article, here are 4 tips on starting your journey to your better self!



Tip 1; Find what's going on in your life


All of us have so much going on nowadays, from the minute we wake up, to the second we go to bed. We wake up and roll over to pick up our phones with the alarm buzzing off the side table, we are wondering what the day will have in store for us. But not many people stop to think what they are doing in there own lives.


Start by sitting down and making mind maps, brain storms whatever you call them, that will take all of the things you have going on in your life and make them visible on paper in front of you. When making a mind map have a look at things such as, work, home life, hobbies, finances etc. The very act of writing something down on paper helps you to clear your mind. From this you can then organise the different sections of your life and in turn become more productive because you can now see all aspects of your life spread out before you.

Tip 2; Make A Schedule


Having something to follow throughout the day is a major part of your personal development journey. You wouldn't send an army into battle without a plan, right? Then why set yourself the task of living a day without the right preparation?


Start by having a look at what you do on a day to day basis and going from there. For me it goes a little something like this;


  • 6:00 am - Wake up and drink a pint of water

  • 6:30 am - Exercise

  • 7:00 am - Meditate

  • 7:30 am - Read

  • 8:00 am - Breakfast

  • 8:30 am - Start the Day

Etc, but you get the picture. Have a list of the things you know you need to do before most wake up. This will also help you to stay on track with the things you need to do, as you will know what is coming up next in the day. This will give you a big head start on the day, week, year and so on.

Tip 3; Find an accountability partner or person


It's hard to keep yourself motivated ALL the time and all of us need help, whether we like to admit it or not. Finding someone who you can call up or message for extra support will do you the world of good.


When looking for an accountability partner, it doesn't have to be just one person. I have a group of people on our Instagram account that help to keep me on track by either sending me messages like "when's the new post?" or "what have you been doing today?" These guys help me to stay on track and to keep my head in the right place so I continue to do things I need to do. Get yourself some people like this, it will really help.

Tip 4; Work out a health plan


All of us know that we should do more exercise but not everyone does it. Have you ever had a moment when you have looked in the mirror and found a hideous monster of a thing staring back at you? I know I have. Not only will having a health plan make you feel better and give you more energy but it'll get rid the the mirror monster for good if you stick to it. Even if you start by having an apple a day. As the saying goes "an apple a day keeps the doctor way" so what if that was true?


Start out by having a look at what you are good at or a sport that you like playing and doing just a little bit. If you're good at and enjoy running then run to the end of your street and back and try it for a week. If you're not a fan of the of the gym or doing exercise just because you know you HAVE to, then join a sports club or an activity that involves physical exercise, for example, dancing. This will not only give you pleasure when doing the exercise because it doesn't feel like a chore, but you can meet some amazing people you never thought you'd meet. Then who knows, you could be jumping out a plane or walking the Great Wall of China next year?!
